A Brief History of the River Beult

In June 2020, we were joined by Alice Trickey. Alice is a professional Blue Badge guide in London as well as a keen naturalist and resident of Heacorn.

Alice has been researching the history of the Beult and its special status as a rare clay river, as well as the diverse wildlife the river supports. Alice gave members an insight into the Weald as a focus for the ancient iron industry and how the area’s geology shaped industrial development. She also spoke about the importance of water mills along the river which helped the wool industry to thrive.
