On 26th May we held a farmer cluster meeting and nightingale walk that was hosted by Mike and Jan Bax at Moat Farm. It was great to hear from KWT Consultancy’s ecologist Chas Holt about this wonderful bird and how his surveys in the Upper Beult are identifying key habitats.
Following the talk and some refreshments that included some amazing honey glazed sausages from cluster member Hugh Richards, Mike Bax took us on a really informative walk around the farm. There were some amazing examples of ideal hedgerows and scrub to support nightingale populations and as the darkness crept in, we were lucky enough to hear a nightingale sing!
