It was great to see some of the Cluster members join the Farmland Bird Walk at Bockhanger Farm on Friday 31st January. We would like to give a big thank you to Andy Howard for hosting us!
With the help of Kent Wildlife Trust ecologist, Paul Tinsley-Marshall, we were able to identify several species by call, including Song Thrush, Robin, Wren, Chaffinch, Goldcrest, Blue and Great tit. We also saw Mandarin ducks, Little Egret and a beautiful flock of Goldfinch.
We’ll be talking in more detail about how to monitor farmland birds at the Cluster meeting on 19th February.
In the meantime, please do let me know if you would like us to arrange more of this kind of event for the cluster, and don’t forget to brush up on those skills and take part in the Big Farmland Bird Count!
