Reminder: The GWCT Big Farmland Bird Count 2023 is happening between Friday 3rd February until Sunday 19th February.

Farmers across the UK are being asked to take part in this important survey to record the farmland birds on their land. This is crucial to monitoring how well the birds are faring and how effective conservation schemes such as supplementary feeding or growing wild bird seed crops have been.

To find out more and download the recording sheets please follow this link (Big Farmland Bird Count – Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust (bfbc.org.uk)). If you would like any further support, please let me know as I would be more than happy to help!

To help brush up on bird ID skills we will be holding a farmland bird walk, kindly hosted by Andy Howard at Bockhanger Farms Ltd. This will be a chance to do a bit of bird watching on the AB9 winter bird food plots with support from Chas Holt to help identify what we are seeing/hearing! Afterwards there will a be an opportunity to head back to the farmyard to warm up with a hot drink.
